I use hanging scale they are not very expense. I usually keep a few of them around to make sure I am right on weight. the thing I recommend is to test them a few times during a keep to make sure they are accurate. I've never missed weight doing it this way. http://www.stillwaterkennelsupply.com/hangingscales.htm
In case you dont want to over pay for something heres where he most likely gets them....

Thanks for the info. I can get similar scales to those closer to home ,might go with one of them digital hanging scales.
I am not a big fan of the digital scales. You need to be extra careful with them. If you knock them around any you run the risk of messing the pressure plate up and getting the wrong weight. you run that risk with any scales but digital are a lot easier to mess up. I don't know about anybody else but mine wont work if its to cold outside. And if your battery's are going dead you run the risk of getting the wrong weight as well. As soon as this set breaks I am going to run with the manual scales from now on.
also had a problem with a digital scale when it was cold outside here. it was fluctuating to much and i would weigh the dog, lift him off and there would still be some weight on it. in the end i used two and bring the dog inside to weigh as well.
im following the thread to look for better options.
I would go with the Pelouze 7710. It's durable and accurate. No matter how cold the temp gets, it hasn't failed me yet. Me and my partners have 4 of them and out of the 4, 1 is off by .2 ounce.
Been using the Pelouze 7710 as well for the last 8 years...love it! Never had a problem...I always try to use fresh batteries beginning of and then new ones again, 2 weeks out.
I use this one, was only like 50 euro max. Very stable and accurate per 10 gram. The sack keeps them perfectly still.
Much better then the really expensive ones i tried.
