Ch Gunner was a heck of a durable bulldog.
I had contemplated breeding to him back several years ago, but I had my eyes on another male with the Tonka/ Hellbend.
I always fancied the Ch Yellow Wolf dog and one day I was at work and got a phone call from Big M. He told me that Benny had passed away and that Yellow Wolfs brother was on his yard and if I would go get him and take good care of him....I could have him. At the time my brother in law was in the Navy and he was stationed very close to where Marlboro was so I sent him to pick the old man up for me. I was so tickled when he arrived and after a good bath and flea dipping I allowed him free roam of my house....He wasn't a good house dog though.
I offered him at public stud and only a handful of people took me up on my offer. I wanted all the pups I could get off him. I bred him to most all of my best females and I'm glad I did. I got several good ones off him and still have a few I wouldn't part with for anything. I had a few people talk down on the old warrior but, the stories I heard from the people that had their hands on him proved to me that he was well worth feeding. Dirty Steve was a little upset that Big M didn't offer Marlboro to him first but I'm glad he didn't.
Marlboro died at the age of 15 and with the help of some supplements I had 4 puppies be born shortly after he passed.
He wasn't pure on the Tonka/Hellbend but he was one of my favorites.

Here's one of the males I still have, sure wish I could get him bred a little more but,...I'm happy to have him. He has a touch of the Tonka/Hellbend and also Baby Lively who was off Yazoo Cody and he was one of the keys to a few of Mr.Hollingsworth's best producing females.

Odie was another one from the Hellbend/ Tonka Bear line that done real well around in this area. He sired many good offspring and was a good dog himself. He was a rough and durable hound and passed it on to several of his offspring.
