The silt fence should work well for this. And the cost is reasonable plus it is usually black and not bright orange which can draw attention. It should work to get you by until you can finish the big fence. I also will be glad when winter is over!

One thought on using deck screws or nails on the trees, unless you remove them later, those could cause some problems down the road if you ever decide to use a chain saw to cut those trees. Nails/screws in trees can really mess up a chain saw.
