I have basically RBJ/Jeep Rascal type dogs and on occasion I get a few who are a bit standoffish with strangers. Not man biters with the exception of one dog in many many years that will hit anything that moves with a fierce intensity. I did an out cross and got 2 bitches, sent one to the owner of the stud and she's a perfect mannered dog. They have a few dogs I'd call fear and insecure aggressive dogs. If I just walk on in their spot they are fine but the anticipation they just freak out over. The bitch I kept is a sweetheart to, BUT once you pour kibble in her bowl she protects it like it's a fresh kill. She doesn't bite but warns with loud growling and hovers her bowl like you are trying to steal it. I don't like it one bit. I've tried working with her but it's like 50 first dates, she does well then the next day it's back to square one.

I'd actually like opinions or advise about this...

Lol this it anbit backwards but I haven't had this in my bulldogs.But I get this same thing with my female Jack Russells.
