some of my favorites dog's have been, the 50/50 (ELI/PONCHO) But the 3/4-1/4 out (Poncho with a 1/4 Eli) dog's are more High Percentage caliber animal's. What is it you like.

The best cross I ever did, oddly enough, was a Poncho/OFRN cross, but I consider it a fluke really.

Of the 15+ Gr Champions that have come from the various crosses with my line, only 3 made it passed 5 wins, 2 of which were Poncho/Eli crosses of some kind: Gr Ch Zukill (6xW), with no dog going over :48 (which was made all the more remarkable, as he had no cutters), and the Japanese Ace Gr Ch Jigilu (9xW), who beat 4 Champions, no dog going over 42 mi. Zukill had a 1/8th injection of Eli via Chinaman blood, and Jigilu had a 50% shot of Eli via Rambo a full brother to Cates' Cujo.

If I could go back in time, knowing then what I know now, and having access to this resource to see reality for what it is, I would probably have experimented with Poncho/Eli crosses almost exclusively. I got caught up with Mayday, and other forms of RBJ crosses, and I tried a couple of Boyles' crosses, but in hindsight these produced mostly rock-solid 1-2xWs and maybe a few Champions. The baddest dog that ever came of the Poncho/Mayday cross (Gr Ch Ms. Serious 5xW) also had a 1/8th shot of Eli in there, same as Zukill, via Trump's Shotgun.

At the highest, highest levels it is almost invariably the Eli/Carver crosses that are doing the deed, not the RBJ crosses. Of course, Gr Ch Titere makes me eat my words on the Redboy dogs, with his incredible record, and his 1/4-shot of Sami The Arab's Boomer (), but I likewise think that is more of a fluke than anything else. Because Chinaman and other Eli/Carver crosses repeatedly and consistently produce 6xWs, 7xWs, and beyond ... whereas Redboy dogs almost never do.

If you look at the other dual Gr Ch DOY Killer Combine's Gr Ch Vengeance (6xW, DOY, POR, ROM), (who beat Gr Ch Hobo), Vengence was pretty much exclusively an Eli/Carver cross also ... whereas the entire bottom side of Hobo was some nondescript "pure Colby" breeding (with his topside being a Nico Jr./Poncho/Mayday cross). Of course, some of the old-School Loposay dogs (based on Colby) produced some murderous animals, but "pure Colby blood" is not really thought of much today as a competitive option.

The Indian Sonny blood behind Gr Ch Vengeance was almost exclusively Eli/Carver blood. Sonny also had some of the best old Corvino blood to be had as well. In fact, it really is a shame that Pat Patrick stole Bolio from Sonny, as (if you look at the pedigrees) Sonny was actually making better and more exciting breedings with Bolio than Patrick was. (Check out some of the pedigrees behind Vengeance to see what I am talking about, as the No Regrets dog Patrick had was another theft from Sonny. In fact, it could properly be said that thefts from Indian Sonny made Pat Patrick ...)

I guess it was good for the fraternity that Pat got Bolio, and made the breedings he did make, because Pat sold them all over the world (while Indian Sonny kept his private) ... but, strictly from a pedigree standpoint, I like what Sonny was doing with Bolio better better than what Patrick did. In fact, Ch Indian Bloomers (from Sonny's breeding) decimated Patrick's Pinky (Red Baby's sister, from Patrick's breeding) in the pit ... with Bloomers being yet another devastating Eli/Bolio cross, with a dash of Corvino

History does have a way of repeating itself ...
