I saw this trait a lot in the Fontenot/ Maloney/Mayfield dogs. One being Maloney's Davis. Also dogs that carried any of the later brindle darker colored Lightner dogs and some of the red nose Lightner strain of dogs.

Another color trait that popped up with a lot of those stiff Bat eared dogs. Was a red Nose and chocolate color or a red nose and dark brandy wine red color. Very attractive looking dogs. The rest with the long lappy ears coming all black, white/black/brindle colors. Not so in all cases. Just the way they came on my yard.

Carver's Black Widow had the long lappy bat ears. Dogs bred around the Carver's Black Widow stock had those lappy or straight stiff bat ears. My J. Young's Sally was a buckskin/white markings with the stiff up right bat ears. My J. Young's Red Lady had the Bat ears and was red nose and dark red brandy wine color. These bitches carried the Mayfield Sunshine or Fontenot-Maloney dogs in their breeding.

Most of these type looking dogs especially the bitches. With this trait usually are good game dogs and made good brood dogs. Cheers
