There was a hearing yesterday and it does not look good for him.

Sounds like a lot of trumped up crap to me. If he’d had hounds or another breed, no one would have bothered him. But anyone with pit bulls is suspect these days, it’s truly a fucked up system.

Filed teeth? And scars? Of 10 dogs, 4 adults and 6 puppies, how could 8 dogs have scars when they first said only 1 dog had a scar? And how could he be charged for not providing care when his set ups had shelter, food, and water?

Pretty sad. I still hope he can fight this.

The case against a Fluvanna County man accused of running a dog fighting ring is moving forward.

On Tuesday, a judge heard evidence against Brendon Mathis during a probable cause hearing in Fluvanna Co. He is facing eight counts of felony animal fighting, one felony count of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and 10 misdemeanor counts of failure to care for an animal.

The judge also heard from two officers and a veterinarian about what conditions the dogs were found in, and what else was discovered on Mathis' property.

The veterinarian tested that three of the 10 dogs seized had evenly filed-down teeth, and that 8 had scarring consistent with dog fighting.

Literature about the rules for dog fighting, as well as cages and a device used to strengthen a pit bull’s jaws were also reportedly found on the property.

Mathis is due back in court on Monday, Feb 24. He is currently being held without bond.
