Understood, but how it reads is that the front panel should be 26'' wide and when it's cut like that and the base is only 24'', you can't affix the 2x2's to the base because the front and back panel are too wide. If I take an inch off the front panel on each side, it will sit flush and only then can I attach the supported 2x2's to the base. As long as the front and back panel sit flush, you can attach the sides. The sides will sit flush based upon the sitting of the 2x2's in the front and back. After the sides are attached, then It might measure to the 26''. If you cut the front and back panel's to 26'', you will run in to trouble trying to mount it to the base.
