Jack
I did all of the preventative care except for one.
I did not vaccinate the bitch prior to breeding her.
I did EVERYTHING ELSE. Even built the above groud pen, hit the pups with Duramune Max 5, did all the worming protocal. EVERYTHING, except the one shot to the female.
The only other think I can think of is I was out of town for 3 days and had a friend come to feed all the dogs. Do you think, even if EVERYTHING was covered, this could bring the parvo to the pups and infect them?
Great great great information and article. The two pups I had come down with it are still kicking. One (the one I took in and handled myself b/f turning over to a good vet) is doing great and may be home tomorrow. The first one (handled by dipshit magoo) is still throwing up. I'll call and ask her about the parvo getting to her heart. She's a tough little shit to make it this long. It's been 7 days for her now.
Good news too, with this vet, is she called me in Tamiflu for my other pups just to make me feel better. I've talked to her the last two days and my pups are doing excellent. She actually told me, "I'll be keeping the Tamiflu in my toolbox now. There is no other reason those pups shouldn't have come down with this being exposed the same as these two I have here. I'll try anything that seems to help." So it's good she'll be adding this to her arsenal.
Last thing. Gary Hammonds has an old school thing he does, and it's worked for him as he's saved many a pup, but in addition to all the typical fluid treatment, antibiotics, pedialyte, etc., he adds a 30:1 pedialyte:bleach mixture he pups down the pup. Have you ever looked into this or used it or know anything about it?
Again, GREAT READ and info.
THANKS
