It all depends on the strain. Cotton's Bullet goes in a bunch of different directions. Just like Eli or Red Boy or Bolio, depends on the selection process by the breeder.
Mr. James Edwards (RIP) had Stoney. He bred him to a number of bitches that had already produced. He threw dogs that could flat shut it down, plain brutal, but most quit on top.
This by no means covers all the strains of the Bullet family. Just one.
And with that said there are huge fans of the Stoney line. Good things could have easily skipped a generation or even the next breeding made them click again to get back more in line with the rest of the Bullet family.
My favorite dogs are Red Boy and the strain I like most he was bred to Bullet bred females, heck, Red Boy may be Bullet blood as well. Don't take the post as anti-Bullet. Just the particular strain around here did not make a good showing.
