I wonder has the "game" ever been really about the dogs. Not just money , ego or the cult of personality.

I'm sure you could make a case either way! Some guys claim they did it to better the dogs, others loved to bet they had a winner.

Just wondering because people like to get in their high horse and preach , but don't walk the walk.

The people that made any mark had to have a real understanding of the dogs and made decisions not based purely on money. People with long term vision.
