Effort To Repeal BSL in Dade County, FL

Miami-Dade County is the only county in the entire state of Florida permitted to engage in canine profiling. Florida state legislators Representative Carlos Trujillo (carlos.trujillo@myfloridahouse.gov) and Senator Jim Norman (norman.jim.web@flsenate.gov) are leading an effort, to right this injustice and to repeal the portion of the Florida statute that allows Miami-Dade to kill dogs simply because of their appearance. No other county in Florida is allowed such unmitigated power over people’s pets.

HB 997 and SB 1233 will repeal the provision that grandfathered Miami-Dade breed ban that costs the lives of close to 1,000 innocent dogs per year and cost taxpayers upwards of $3Million per year.

Please contact your legislator TODAY and ask them to support and co-sponsor HB 997/SB1322.

BSL in Dade County has not been repealed yet and it looks like they are trying to derail the effort to pass two important bills which would end BSL in south FL. (Florida HB 997 / SB 1322). If you live in Florida please contact your house and senate members to support these bills!
