Dog had black goop in ear(1 ear only). Thought it was mites. Been treating with nustock stock for about a month. I gave a small break after the first 3 or 4 doses and the black goop came back been treating every 3 to 4 days since then and he still act like his ears are bothering him. Possibly a yeast infection or what else could it be? If it is a yeast infection would monostat cream work?
Surolan usually does the trick
One thing I learned while I went trough some ear problems is that when you treat a dog's ear for a long time with meds it actually messes up the natural fungus balance in a ear
i actually had to use some PH enhancer and the problem was gone in a few days
Yes i have seen the same thing. Surolan works great if its a one time thing or every once in a while, but if you treat to long i had same results.
Get a culture done at a vet; that way you're not shooting in the dark.Quote:

The culture is the best course of action.
I use a 16 oz. bottle of Isopropyl alcohol, a tablespoon of boric acid and 10-12 drops of Genetian Violet. The alcohol serves as the carrier and readily evaporates. The boric acid lowers the PH and the Genetian Violet serves as a topical.
It is mixed in the alcohol bottle and a hole poked in the top to make a squirt bottle. Works wonders. EWO
