suspecting Babesia

the time frame is about right about 2 weeks after possible exposire
this dog has extremely white gums but no other apparent signs his
temperature is normal
this dog is normally very crazy and now is acting just a little bit less crazy, just seems a little bit off
his urine is a dark yellow really doesn't have any orange tint to it
he is still eating all the food but he isn't going nuts when I come to feed him like he usually does
I won't be able to get to a vet for another week
so I'm giving a shot of Berenil just in case I hope this is best practice

That's what I'd do. Wouldn't hurt to worm the bejesus out of him either, especially for hooks & whips.

I hadn't thought of that but I am a little behind on my worming schedule so thanks Jack I'll do that immediately

The dogs I've had, they won't eat. They get pretty damn down.
Seems like the vet I had, at that time, before we knew much, put em on Tetracycline and we pulled through.

I've got minezine on hand now........don't even remember how to use it though

update..... okay now this is getting weird
just got home went out to feed him with some safeguard mix in some dog food
as he was walking his cable run he got weak and damn near fell down and then stumble around for a few seconds
so I go pick him up and bring him inside
now he's wagging his tail and looking pretty good
Ate a whole can of dog food with the wormer in it
Gums are still white as a ghost , temp is 100
acting melancholy but not overly down

Good luck with the dog, i'd keep him inside for a while.
Im following the subject to see how it goes. Never had a dog with babesia, i read in Jack's article that he had to treat one 3 times with berenil to fix him up.

He might need a blood transfusion.

Certainly, you should take him to the vet to get a blood count on him, in order to see if he does.

A bulldog that stumbles and can't walk needs a blood count and (most likely) a transfusion.

so I should have clarified that the falling down was a brief episode
he's been inside with me all night and pretty much acting his normal self
he made it around to all the counters looking for food jumping up ib everything
he's keeping an eye on me and every time I make a move or go to the kitchen he's right there looking for food
so there's no way I can get out of work today so I'm going to give him a big chunk of beef liver
some more wormer with his food and hope for the best
if he goes downhill I'll have to take him to the emergency on my day off

Oh ya his gums seem to be slightly pinker and refill when I press them
