View Full Version : walking shoes
what's your favourite shoes to walk dogs on the road?
iv had adidas shoes which they use in german special forces, but they're way to heavy on the knees. done with nike air max too, as you got to replace em like every 2 months. time for some new ones!

I don't walk my dogs in that manner, so my shoes are safe.
No nature here Frosty, only flat asphalt, lol. Or did you mean something else.
I use Merrill hiking shoes. I have a 3/4 cut and a low cut. They are durable, and comfortable. Pricey though. EWO

This is actually a great topic.
When I was in Nashville, I started selling cars. (Ken Allen used to sell at a dealership there, and Bobby Holland was still there, and we used to work together.)
Anyway, because people had to be on their feet all day, this was a key topic: what shoes are most comfortable being on your feet all day?
In sales, it was Rockport.
As far as comfortable shoes for walking on asphalt, not sure.
I would imagine some kind of light running shoe would make the most sense: light, good arch support, breathable.

PS: I also watched a NatGeo Documentary, where a professional nature hiker hiked the entire Redwood Forest for over 400 days straight ... and he only wore sandals.
Why? He said he couldn't wash his socks, and didn't want to carry a year's worth of socks.
He said, "To leave shoes on (my) feet for a year would KILL ME," (literally) by infection.
With open sandals, he could constantly wash his feet in the rivers and never get infection ...

one thing I learned is that most shoes are made for 80 kg
make sure you get one accustomed to your weight

Normaly just wear a pair of old sneakers. All I wear is Jordan or Nike. Most of the time they're basketball shoes. So good traction and bounce, comfortable but not the lightest. A nice cross training pair should do also. Had some Nike cross trainers, they were lighter than the Jordans and about as effective while being much lighter. But only good on certain days as their not made from leather.
Depends on weather. My addidas are more airy for mild or warm days. On wet days or cold days depending on if I'm going to the field or just cool down walks. It could be my old Jordan's or a pair of Walmart shoes with doctor scholl's. In the field the Walmart shoes or old red wing work boots.

Steel toe wolverine boots incase I have to kick something..They are actually pretty light and I have to wear them all day at work and I work on concrete so it doesn't bother me to wear them...Floors in my house is finished concrete , scored it and made it look like tile and stained it , very durable..So yea I'm on concrete all the time and I love my Wolverines.

Nut, I meant I only walk my dogs from their chain/pen, etc to whatever working device they're going to next. I don't walk my dogs in nature or on asphalt. :)
I See Frosty, my dogs are in kennels and some in crates. So i walk in keeps (no longer then 35 minutes and none workers 15 minuts) but also for their entertainment on regular days. And can't say its bad for me either so when I order food I can keep ordering two of something.

I like my New balance. I have walked 5 or more miles a day for weeks at a time and it takes a year to really wear them out.
