Jack the guy I learned a lot from kept more bitches than he did males..And when he bred he always had more bitches in a litter than he did males.He told me breed early in the heat and you get more females ! So I suppose it may have been rebellion on my behalf! And also just named some dogs from the past that I thought represented the breed well.

To me utilizing one female is more of a foundation build on. In reality i would rather start with one proven female. Breed to a proven stud and keep all the pups and raise them up and evaluate them. Then repeat the process. I would rather do this than starting with 3-5 females. Just my theory.

To me utilizing one female is more of a foundation build on. In reality i would rather start with one proven female. Breed to a proven stud and keep all the pups and raise them up and evaluate them. Then repeat the process. I would rather do this than starting with 3-5 females. Just my theory.

A female is the foundation, but they can only be bred so often, so it seems strange to me to have 1 female and 5 studs.

Of course, I come from a seller's perspective, and that of a bloodline-builder.

if you didn't sell any, and kept them all, then it would make sense. Either way, those males would be collecting dust.

Still, everyone has his own way, and not sating you're wrong, just surprised me is all :D

I've had similar troubles, I now try to write a longer post in an email draft, then copy & paste it. Or I highlight it and copy it before I try to post it in case it all gets lost.

Yeah it is frustrating to write a good long discussion and find it gone, poof!
